It's easier to avoid polluting and wasting stormwater in the first instance, than it is to clean and reuse polluted stormwater.

Control erosion and sediment during earthworks and construction activities so that stormwater run-off doesn't carry soil particles, sediment, dissolved plant nutrients, organic matter and waste into stormwater drains. These seemingly subtle pollutants clog waterways and damage ecosystems.

Slow the flow or capture stormwater by including earth mounding, grassy swales and garden ponds on sites. They slow the water down, enabling pollutants to drop out before the water leaves the site.

Direct and capture stormwater run-off from roof downpipes and surfaces towards rainwater tanks, irrigation systems or high water-use areas in your landscaping.
